Letter to Editor

Refer “UM vegetarians left in the lurch”. Malaysian Vegetarian Society take a serious view of the letter by “Indian Student UM”.

Vegetarian food is an integral part of the Global diet for healthy living. This is happening in a premier University like ours. Our country is a well recognized Educational Hub in this region. There is a large Vegetarian student population from many countries.

Our Prime Minister recognized this as very important and in a Star report in  2011, directed the Ministry of Higher Education to avail Vegetarian food  in all the Universities. This does not seem to be the case. The Ministry of Higher Education seems to have overlooked this  important issue affecting many students on Vegetarian diet from various countries including ours.

MVS sincerely hope that the Ministry of Higher Education will direct all Universities to avail vegetarian menu in their food outlets urgently.
