A group of students from Sunway University doing a project regarding vegetarian fast food. An interview with Dr.Vythilingam, The President of Malaysian Vegetarian Society.

The purpose of  this interview is to enable the students to gather valuable information regarding the background of vegetarianism.

Interview Questions: 

  1. What are the aims and objectives of this society?
  2. How do you encourage people to adopt a vegan diet?
  3. What were the difficulties that your society encountered in promoting vegetarianism to the Malaysian society?
  4. When was the society established and how did it come about?
  5. How many members do you have?
  6. What is vast majority of your member’s religion? (by percentage)
  7. What races or ethics are there in your society? (by percentage)
  8. In your opinion, at what age group do people as well as your members adopts vegetarian as their diet?
  9. Are vegetarianisms adopted mostly by females or males? In Malaysian Vegetarian Society, which gender has the majority number?
  10.  Is there an increase of percentage in the number of people becoming vegetarian? (if so, please give a rough estimation)
  11.  In Malaysian Vegetarian Society, on average a year, how many people join the society?
  12. Do you know how many vegetarians are there in Klang Valley? Sunway area/Subang area
  13. In your opinion, do you think that there is a potential business for vegetarian food to thrive in Malaysia?
  14. Do you think that a vegetarian fast food that offers a fusion or western and Asian cuisines will thrive in the vegetarian food market?
